The Age Music Victoria Genre Awards + Nominations Announced

Congratulations to Archie Roach and the Melbourne Ska Orchestra who have both picked up awards at the inaugural Age Music Victoria Genre Awards. For the first time ever, Victoria’s best genre music was celebrated in the one event. Roach took out ‘Best Folk Roots Album’ for his 2012 masterpiece ‘Into The Bloodstream’ whilst Nicky Bomba’s Melbourne Ska Orchestra got the nod for ‘Best Global or Reggae Act’.

Eleven expert panels spent the last six weeks debating the best music across 11 genres, from jazz to hip hop, global and heavy, and agreed on the top five releases and acts in each genre category.

Further to the Genre Award ceremony, nominees for this year’s publicly voted Age Music Victoria Awards have been announced with The Drones leading the way with three nominations with Adalita & King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard following closely with two nominations respectively.
