The collaboration of long-time friends and musicians Shane Howard and Archie Roach AM drew a well-deserved award for Best Original Song Composed for the Screen for A Secret River for The Secret River. The two-part television series based on Kate Grenville’s best-selling novel.
They also performed their song, which weaves acoustic guitars with strings and traditional Aboriginal instruments, at the event, staged by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC), at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
It’s been a huge week for Archie, who received his Order of Australia back in June, as he celebrates the release of the 25th anniversary of “Charcoal Lane” .
