It’s Golden at the Top of the ARIA Charts as Kylie Debuts at Number One!

Things have come up Golden for Australia’s favourite pop princess, with her latest album Golden (out now through Liberator Music/BMG) debuting this week in the #1 spot on the ARIA Album Charts.

This is Kylie’s fifth number one album in Australia and sees her global status as Australia’s highest selling female artist even more firmly cemented. Kylie’s previous number ones in Australia have included Light Years (2000), Fever (2001), X (2007), and Kiss Me Once (2014). Significantly, Kylie is just the second Australian artist alongside Vance Joy (a fellow Mushroom Label artist) to secure an ARIA #1 album in 2018.

Golden also debuted at #1 in the UK, equalling Australia’s record of five chart-topping Kylie studio albums to date.

2018 is a significant year for Kylie, releasing her fourteenth album, celebrating her 50th birthday in May and kicking off her Golden World Tour in September.

Golden has been heralded as one of Kylie’s most personal albums to date and saw her working alongside songwriter Steve McEwan (whose credits include huge country hits for Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood), and Amy Wadge (best known for her mega-selling work with Ed Sheeran). The truly international project was rounded out with African-German producer Sky Adams and a list of contributors including Jesse Frasure, Eg White, Jon Green, Biff Stannard, Samuel Dixon, Danny Shah and Lindsay Rimes, and includes a duet with English singer Jack Savoretti.

Outside of its chart success Golden has also earned praise from reviewers:

★ ★ ★ ★ ‘Pop music taking a Nashville detour and dipped in glitter and sawdust.’

‘Her voice shines throughout and has a raw, ‘live’ feel to it, which perfectly complements the personal, storytelling quality of the lyrics.’
Huffington Post

‘You can forgive Minogue, who co-wrote all the songs on Golden, for wanting to try something a little different on her 14th album, and she pulls it off.’
Sydney Morning Herald
