The Rubens sophomore album “Hoops” reaches certified GOLD

Mushroom Music would like to congratulate The Rubens’ whose sophomore album “Hoops” has today reached certified GOLD.

This marks the band’s fourth high sales achievement, with singles ‘My Gun’ and ‘Hoops’ reaching Gold and Platinum sales respectively and the band’s debut, self-titled album reaching certified Platinum sales in 2015.

The Rubens kicked off 2016 on a high, having the single ‘Hoops’ take out the coveted top spot on triple j’s Hottest 100 poll. They then went on to play a staggering 48 shows in Australia, including highlight sets at Groove in the Moo and Falls Festivals and took on their most ambitious headline tour to date via the mammoth Hold Me Back Tour (including a SOLD OUT show at the Hordern Pavilion and Margaret Court Arena). The guys also took the record to the world, playing 23 shows abroad –  joining NZ’s Naked and Famous on a sold out US tour and selling out their debut show in London.

Frontman Sam Margin puts it down to the everyone who has supported the band:

“We are so stoked to get HOOPS to GOLD. We’ve had a huge year and thank family and friends, triple j, venues, our entire team and most important all our fans who keep coming to shows, requesting songs and buying our albums. We love ya. “

The boys are embarking on a tour of North Queensland next week, as well as two sold out shows at Melbourne Zoo and have almost sold out their second Taronga Zoo show for the upcoming ‘Twilight At Taronga’ events, resulting in almost 10k tickets sold across four shows!

Now, with a sophomore GOLD album and platinum debut record to their name, the boys have already managed to start writing for their forthcoming third album.

We can’t wait to see what’s in-store for The Rubens in 2017!
