Doyle Perez, better known by his moniker D At Sea, first gained attention in early 2012 when his acoustic cover of Parkway Drive’s “Carrion” became a viral sensation, racking up almost 700,000 views. Completely reworking the song from its initial format,Perez was praised for his vocal performance and the originality of his rendition of “Carrion”.
The past year has seen D At Sea’s fanbase grow considerably, with his Facebook garnering 26,000+ likes and his YouTube channel scoring more than 3.5 Million views to date. Covers of The Amity Affliction, House Vs Hurricane and Bring Me The Horizon have further increased his notoriety as a talent able to take songs from the hardcore genre and work them into his own style.
Beyond the covers, Perez has managed to tour consistently around Australia, selling out shows in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, all the while continuing in his spare time to play in parks to hundreds of all ages fans.
Live performances have given Perez the chance to preview his original material to an ever-growing fan base. The songs tell tales of time, life, friends, family, injury and catharsis – all penned with same the honesty and sincerity that the artists he’s covered have become famous for. The first five tracks, which showcase his incredible voice and original take on acoustic music, will be released on his “Unconscious” EP in March.
