Freya Ridings

Freya Ridings’ rise to stardom has been cemented with her single ‘Lost Without You’ hitting Number 9 in the Official Charts. A hymn to lost love and regret, the single has now had over 50
million streams, it’s been added to BBC Radio 1 playlist, played by Capital FM, Heart, Smooth FM and Bauer network and she’s the No.1 artist in the Independent singles and Shazam chart. The last time a female artist hit the Top 10 with a song 100% written by themselves was in 2012 with are-charting of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’.

It’s been an incredible time for the North London, 24-year old and looks set to get even better with the announcement of her biggest 14k cap headline UK tour and the release of her debut album in
2019. Freya’s rising success is testament to an artist that has been touring relentlessly over the past couple of years, selling out venues in the US and UK, playing festivals, constantly writing and
releasing music for her fans.

`Lost Without You’, alongside other stand-out tracks ‘Ultraviolet’, ‘Blackout’ and her spinetingling cover of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘Maps’ has now catapulted Freya’s monthly listeners on
Spotify to over 3 million. Plus, Freya’s live album ‘Live at Omeara’ released earlier this year has now been the #1 Alternative album on iTunes for 3 consecutive weeks.
Contending with being incredibly shy and feeling isolated at school, Freya found her extraordinary, vibrato-rich, pin-drop voice when she was in just Year 7 at school when she was invited to perform at an open-mic night. Freya explains, ” I sang quite low for a little girl, I did this whole raspy thing.

Suddenly, though, I’d found my own way. To this day, I still can’t believe I got up there. The whole room went crazy. And that was the moment where I thought: ‘Maybe I can take this thing
that’s my own private thing, that I’ve done on my own, and actually share it with other people.”‘But whether i t is live, sitting at the piano, or strumming her guitar, Freya has distilled a short
lifetime of uncertainty, and transformed i t into songs of alchemical incandescence, magicked into greatness by one of the most powerful voices in a generation.
