He is held in high regard throughout Australia, and during the past 30 years, has worked tirelessly to define a distinctive Australian voice as an artist, writer, producer, engineer and mentor. 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the iconic song Solid Rock, the landmark song from the album Spirit of Place. 30 years ago Solid Rock was the first song to gain mainstream attention that broached the subject of reconciliation. For the past 30 years Shane Howard has also continued a social and cultural journey, via his music, into what it truly means to be Australian in the modern world. In the process, he’s influenced many artists, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, and has been at the heart of creating awareness of social justice issues and facilitating positive change.
