We Do
Over two decades in neighbouring rights means we’re the most experienced in the game.

Good Neighbour offers exceptional rights management to exceptional artists. Our platinum service is designed specifically for top-tier artists who demand meticulous attention to detail. Managing neighbouring rights entails significant administrative tasks, where no level of technology can supplant the need for human expertise and personalised guidance, especially in navigating intricate and nuanced situations, such as samples in recordings and collaborations between performers.
Neighbouring rights are universally recognised, but legislation varies from country to country. Consequently, Good Neighbour maintains a footprint across key music markets worldwide, spanning Europe, North America, Asia/Australasia, and Latin America. This positioning enables Good Neighbour to stay abreast of developments regarding the payment of these royalties.
With offices spread across the globe, our team consists of a specialist labels/neighbouring rights royalty team with a dedicated portal and department that facilitate distributions.

What are
neighbouring rights?
Here’s the ‘need to know’ version.
Neighbouring Rights are the rights related to the public performance of the master recording. They sit beside or ‘neighbour’ the composition copyright of a work and apply to an audible contribution made on a sound recording. Performers who have contributed to a sound recording, have a right to a share of this income.
The right was legislated into the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT) 1996 granting performers economic rights in their performances fixed in phonograms.
This 50% share is commonly known as the ‘Performer Share.’
If the performer does not qualify for this income or has not claimed it within the limitation period (which varies dependent on the territory), the royalties will flow back to the label or the maker/owner of the sound recording (Rightsholder).
The copyright owner of the recordings (usually a record label) is entitled to the 50% Rightsholder Share.
